IONS is situated in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaw people. Unceded means that the Mi’kmaq have never relinquished, sold, traded, or transferred ownership of their land to European settler colonies, yet land was taken over without their consent through various processes of settler colonialism. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which the Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik people first signed with the British Crown in 1726. These Treaties did not involve the surrendering of rights to the lands and resources they had traditionally used and occupied. We are all Treaty People.

We further acknowledge that Nova Scotia is the birthplace of Black culture and heritage in Canada. People of African descent have shared these lands for over 400 years, and over 50 strong and resourceful African Nova Scotian communities exist here today.

We are committed to the struggle against systems of oppression that have resulted in profound inequities and the denial of self-determination rights. We are working actively to deepen our learning at an individual level, provide learning opportunities about anti-racism and decolonization, and to develop partnerships with organizations serving and led by underrepresented groups.

    Work Description:

    In particular note to the Other, I am certified with the International Coaching Federation ( ICF) the gold standard for coaching credentials globally. I am also a certified team coach and work with individuals, groups and teams to support them in identifying their professional goals, and how they can move forward to success. Included in the suite of professional development services, in addition to leadership coaching, I am a facilitator, trainer and project manager with extensive experience working in the community sector and as importantly in cross-sector collaborations and collective impact.

    Rates:

    My rates are based on an hourly rate of about $175/hour + HST so for coaching which is based on hourly sessions the base rate is $175/hour plus HST. I do have a Nonprofit rate that is around $125/hour plus HST. If there is a longer term commitment e.g. 6 – 12 months, there is a modified rate negotiated based on volume. Other type of work including Strategic Planning, Project Management, Change Management, may be contracted at rates between $65 – $100 /hour based on the # of hours and length of contract and total $ available. As an experienced consultant, with over 35 years experience, I find that I am able to provide efficient and effective services for the funding and time available.

    Yes, I have worked in the Community Impact Sector across Canada for over 35 years and over 25 years in Nova Scotia. I have directly collaborated with IONS on two projects related to leadership development, capacity strengthening and team develompent.
