Session three of the HR Lunch and Learn series – Development and Training

In the Equitable HR Lunch and Learn series, leaders will learn how to design equity centered recruitment, orientation, training and retention practices that foster welcoming workplaces in the Community Impact Sector. This series will introduce the “Whole Human – Whole Organization” framework as process to apply your organizational values and practices of empathy in support of your organization’s strategic aims.

This “Whole Human – Whole Organization” process begins with:

  • Identifying the current and future needs of the team or organization (observations)
  • Reviewing and assessing the culture and capacity of the organization (feelings)
  • Designing a recruitment and interview process that supports clarity, shared understandings and connection to shared purpose (needs) in contrast to the practiced questions and practiced answers that are the norm.

In each of the sessions you will have access to foundational training content and equity considerations for the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment through retention. We will walk through real life scenarios and have time for a Q&A with our HR resident expert, Leonie Smith.

Session 3: Development and Training

By the end of this session you will be able to support the growth and development of your staff by: 

  • Understanding and aligning your organization’s and employees’ needs  
  • Creating a culture of feedback that centers the learning of new employees and helps you to assess their progress in the early days of employment 
  • Building trust in the relationship between employer and employee to foster honest communication and information sharing
