Communications Support

Aging Well Nova Scotia is a province-wide impact organization dedicated to supporting
aging well through community connection for over 30 years. We work in collaboration
with the community-based senior serving sector to promote and support age-friendly,
inclusive communities and to ensure older Nova Scotians are connected and valued.
We know the many positive contributions older adults make and the importance of
ensuring seniors can live healthy and engaged lives.

Aging Well Nova Scotia is seeking a detail oriented, self-starter with strong writing skills
and the ability to work in a multi-project environment.

The Communications Support will work with the communications team by creating and
assisting with social media campaigns, website, and other external communications.
This role may also provide communication supports which include creating, editing, and managing content for print materials, promotions, and our 2026 Year of Aging Well
Calendar.

Other duties may include researching age friendly information and attending/ providing support for online meetings.

This is a remote position and requires that the successful candidate has access to
reliable internet and a computer.

Position: Six to eight weeks (35 hours a week with a max of 280 hours) to be
completed by August 30, 2025. $18.00/hr.

Description of duties:

Research and Communications:
• Lead the New Lens on Aging Photo submission campaign including promotion,
correspondence with partners and participants and organizing photo
submissions.
• Develop promotional materials or resources for Aging Well Nova Scotia
• Develop a celebratory social media campaign for Seniors Week
• Develop educational age positive social media posts

Aging Well 2025 Calendar:
Coordinate content for our 2025 Aging Well Calendar, including:
• Research statistics and information
• Curate resources
• Develop written content
• Promote and organize sponsorship
• Copyediting

Other: Assist with administrative support activities as needed. Support Communications team and Community Development team with content creation.

Supervision: Supervision by Outreach and Communications Manager

Qualifications:
• Training in Communications, Public Relations, Social Research, Life-long
Education, or a related field.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Canva, social media
• Excellent communication skills

Experience with digital communications, media relations, writing in various forms (e.g.
profiles, features, news releases, online, etc.), squarespace web builder and editing is
an asset.

Job requirements: Applicant is between 15 and 30 years of age and legally entitled to
work in Canada; must meet all requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs program.
