
Alice House
Operating since 1982, Alice House was formed by the Halifax Transition House Association Board to help women and their children transition from an emergency shelter to a permanent home and independence. Over the decades, Alice House has grown significantly and gained valuable knowledge about the variety and complexity of needs confronted by women, and their children as they heal from abuse. Alice House now provides opportunities for these individuals to create a life free from intimate partner violence by offering safe second-stage housing, counseling, and support services. Alice House works with other organizations and individuals to access financial support and raise awareness in the community.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Alice House as determined by the Board of Directors, in consultation and collaboration with the management team, to support and achieve the goals, mission, objectives, and overall direction of Alice House. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational effectiveness and financial sustainability of the organization.
The Executive Director is a hands-on leader with a mission-driven mindset with an exceptional track record for developing and delivering on strategic and operational priorities and financial stability. They are passionate about developing and mentoring resilient teams and have a history of building and maintaining effective governmental and non-governmental partnerships. They have excellent people leadership and financial management skills, knowledge of the not-for-profit sector, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both internally and externally in pursuit of organizational advancement and awareness. Showing empathy, respect, warmth, and kindness is essential to succeed in this role.
Salary Range: $84,000 – $105,000
