Position: Program Associate, Atlantic Council for International Cooperation

Location: Remotely within Nova Scotia or the ACIC office at 210-2099 Gottingen Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax, Canada, B3K 3B2 (Some travel within Nova Scotia will be required).

Position Start Date: April 11, 2022

Number of Weeks: 14

Wage: CAD $16/hour

Hours Per Week: 35

 

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) is a coalition of individuals, organizations, and institutions working in the Atlantic region, which are committed to achieving global sustainability in a peaceful and healthy environment, with social justice, human dignity, and participation for all. ACIC supports its members in international cooperation and education through collective leadership, networking, information, training, and coordination, and represents their interests when dealing with government and others.  ACIC also takes a leadership role in engaging Atlantic Canadians around issues relating to international development, global sustainability, and social justice. Through our public engagement work, ACIC strives to give Atlantic Canadians the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to become active global citizens. About the position: This position calls for a collaborative individual who will provide support to the ACIC programs team in interacting and working with members, partners, stakeholders and Atlantic Canadians. The Program Associate will support a number of ACIC projects, programs and initiatives, and help facilitate their implementation through their logistical, planning and communication skills. The position requires a highly organized, and self-starting individual. The position will appeal to a motivated young professional, looking for opportunity to work in the nonprofit and/or international development sector, and using their skills to create a more just, sustainable world.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • The Program Associate will work with ACIC staff responsible for the areas of programming and communications and will:
  • Provide logistical, training and administrative support to ACIC’s programs, which includes but is not limited to ACIC’s Annual Symposium, training and public engagement activities, and membership and stakeholder relations.
  • Assist with program promotion, recruitment, and outreach activities to diverse audiences.
  • Work with programs staff to develop and arrange logistics for trainings and workshops to ACIC members.
  • Develop resource materials related to ACIC’s mandate, programs and objectives (compile resources, information, and activities).
  • Support maintenance of social media presence across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Assist with marketing, communications and public engagement activities as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience organizing logistics for workshops, conferences, and other events
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently, as well as evenings and weekends at time.
  • Knowledge of and interest in non-government organizations (NGO), international development, and community groups in the Atlantic
  • Bilingual in English and French an asset.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants must be students who will be starting or returning to a full-time post-secondary program in September 2022. Proof of enrollment is required. The student must be a permanent resident of the province or live in Nova Scotia for at least six months prior to the work term.
