COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT/COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The Role

Circulate is looking for a highly motivated Community Engagement and Communications Coordinator (CECC) to join our team. The CECC will be responsible for developing and executing community engagement and communications strategies that align with our mission and guiding principles. The role requires a high standard for making connections, and fostering relationships. Curiosity with a genuine desire to relate to a variety of people and audiences is needed.

The Community Engagement Communications Coordinator is a part-time position- 25 hours/week, requiring hybrid work from home and onsite. The position is based in Kjipuktuk, Halifax with occasional travel. We are looking for a community-hearted person with a warm and personable demeanour that enjoys facilitating and organizing detailed management in communications. You will report to and work alongside the Director.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a communication and engagement plan.
Develop and implement community engagement initiatives that align with Circulate’s mission and guiding principles.
Lead an outreach campaign to build on current and new relationships.
Support donor and sponsor relations.
Respond and/or filter emails and inquiries from the public.
Assist with bookings and provide an orientation to visitors.
Manage existing social media platforms and website content to ensure consistency in messaging and brand identity.
Manage a network of partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders to increase awareness.
Support in preparing compelling proposals that effectively communicate Circulate’s goals, impact and financial needs for grants and sponsorships.
Support the creation and distribution of our email newsletter, press releases, and other communication materials.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets to secure media coverage for Circulate.
Create and maintain a database of proposals and communications.
Develop a system to track and analyze engagement levels and community impacts to improve strategies.
Represent Circulate at events, and community gatherings.
Team led planning and coordinating fundraising events and/or campaigns.
Manage resources effectively to meet and set goals.

Qualifications

Strong initiative and heart-centered commitment to the success of Circulate.
Understand and resonate with the benefits and purpose of Circulate..
Have a minimum of 2 years experience in community development and/or a communications related role.
Demonstrate a track record of developing and facilitating successful community engagement and communications strategies.
Hold excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Have strong social media management skills.
Provide experience in event planning and coordination.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment is an asset.
Hold a Bachelor’s or College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Community Development, Human Services, or related field.
Demonstrate comfort with technology and working virtually and in person.

Eligibility Requirements
The role is $17/hour up to 25 hours/week for a recent graduate from post-secondary (within the last two years). One must also identify with having a disability (self-identified) due to the role’s funding requirements.
