Promotes and support age friendly communities

Position: Project Manager
Type: 100% FTE  (37.5 hours weekly)

Responsible To: Executive Director, Community Links

Community Links is a Nova Scotia-based community organization that promotes and supports age friendly communities by connecting individuals and organizations, with a vision that all Nova Scotians can age well in their communities.

We facilitate collaboration among representatives of seniors’ clubs, senior-serving organizations, businesses, government and individuals who address and seek to enhance aging well including physical and mental health, active living, social connection, transportation and appropriate, affordable housing.

We are seeking a Project Manager to plan, implement and manage a project for the collection and use of community-level data to provide a current state assessment of community-based senior serving organizations in Nova Scotia, and the creation and distribution of targeted micro-grants. The Project Manager will also be involved in research and development of a communications hub, to strengthen information sharing among senior-serving organizations across the province.

The Project Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, Community Links staff, and project partners. The Project Manager will take primary responsibility for managing all aspects of the projects concurrently from initiation through closure, delivering projects on time and on budget.

Responsibilities include

·        Determine and define project scope, timeline and objectives

·        Prepare and track budget while predicting resources needed

·        Act as primary project liaison to project partners and contractors

·        Develop and manage a detailed project work plan

·        Support project research activities.

·        Provide project updates on a consistent basis to stakeholders

·        Identify project risks and opportunities, and develop responsive strategies

·        Measure project progress and evaluation to identify areas for improvement

·        Identify and manage project team

·        Plan, prepare and organize virtual and in-person meetings

·        Plan and coordinate community conversations and engagement sessions

·        Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders

·        Apply a diversity and inclusion lens with cultural humility to the work

·        Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for Project Manager

·        Proven ability to design and manage projects according to scope, budget, and timeline

·        Ability to solve problems creatively

·        Demonstrated expertise with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices

·        Excellent analytical and evaluation skills

·        Working knowledge of online survey platforms

·        Proficiency using Microsoft applications, and Zoom

·        Ability to strategize and plan outreach to garner community engagement

·        Experience working with NGOs, community-based organizations, interest groups and government

·        Positive attitude, creativity, problem solving with a passion for managing projects to conclusion and on time

·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills (Virtual, in person, print)

·        Proficiency in English – both speaking and writing

Assets

·        Background in public health, community development or aging in place research

·        Familiarity with the senior serving community-based sector

·        Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management certificate or equivalent

·        Bring an Asset Based Community Development approach.

·        Media Production experience

·        Relevant experience working or volunteering with diverse peoples, groups, or organizations

·        Cultural awareness and additional language proficiencies

Considerations

·        The ideal candidate possesses a University Degree and minimum three (3) years recent experience in a related field with emphasis on data analysis techniques and needs assessments

·        Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Position Details

·       3 Month probationary period applies

·       One-year contract (possibility of extension to be determined)

·       37.5 hours weekly – $62,500/year

·       Hybrid work may be an option

·       Requires valid driver’s licence and driver’s abstract

Reimbursement for travel and some home office expenses.
3 weeks paid vacation plus paid week between Christmas and New Year.
