Summary: Coverdale Justice Society is committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by 2SLGBTQ+ individuals within the justice system, particularly in the context of domestic violence. The 2SLGBTQ+ Justice Coordinator will play a critical role in providing specialized support and advocacy for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic violence. Reporting to the Program Manager, this position will encompass case management, facilitation, counseling, conflict management, court support, crisis intervention, community building and program delivery to support the well-being of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.

Position Overview: The 2SLGBTQ+ Justice Coordinator will work directly with 2SLGBTQ+ individuals involved in the justice system, providing comprehensive support and advocacy in the context of domestic violence. This role involves case management, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and the delivery of tailored programs designed to meet the specific needs of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic violence. The coordinator will also facilitate conflict resolution and provide critical support during times of crisis, ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to justice and support services.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management

○  Develop and implement individualized case plans for 2SLGBTQ+ clients experiencing domestic violence.
○  Conduct assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and goals.
○  Provide ongoing case management and support to ensure client progress and stability.
○  Coordinate with community resources and services to address client needs.

Counseling and Facilitation

○  Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on the unique challenges faced by 2SLGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic violence.
○  Facilitate support groups and educational workshops.
○  Develop and deliver tailored programs that address issues such as mental health, substance use, housing, and legal challenges related to domestic violence.

Conflict Management and Crisis Intervention:
○  Mediate conflicts and provide conflict resolution services as needed.
○  Respond to crises and provide immediate support and intervention.
○  Develop and implement crisis intervention plans to ensure client safety and well-being.
○  Facilitate restorative based approaches to healing and addressing harm.

Program Delivery:
○  Design and deliver programs that support the reintegration and rehabilitation of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals experiencing domestic violence.
○  Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
○  Collaborate with other staff and community partners to ensure comprehensive service delivery.

Advocacy and Support:
○  Advocate for the rights and needs of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals within the justice system, particularly in domestic violence cases.
○  Provide support and resources to clients navigating legal and systemic challenges related to domestic violence.
○  Work to create a safe and inclusive environment for 2SLGBTQ+ clients.

Collaboration and Networking:
○  Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, service providers, and stakeholders.
○  Participate in community meetings, coalitions, and advocacy efforts.
○  Collaborate with other Coverdale Justice Society programs to ensure integrated service delivery.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
●  Minimum of 3 years of experience in case management, counseling, or related roles, preferably working with 2SLGBTQ+ individuals or within the justice system.
●  Strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in the context of domestic violence and the justice system.
●  Demonstrated ability to provide effective counseling, crisis intervention, and conflict management.
●  Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
●  Commitment to the principles of Housing First, Restorative Justice, Harm Reduction, and Anti-Oppression.

Working Conditions:
●  This position requires regular travel within the Halifax Regional Municipality and occasional travel to correctional facilities.
●  The coordinator may be required to work outside of regular business hours to meet client needs and attend community meetings.
