Job Type:     Full time, one year Contract Position (March 27, 2023 – March 30, 2024

Salary Range: $42,000.00 to $44,000.00 a year

Evangeline Recreation Society

Overseen by a Board of Directors and staffed by people who have experience with the realities of mental health challenges, the Evangeline Recreation Society has the following objectives.

1.       To operate a Clubhouse offering members a welcoming, supportive, encouraging culture of belonging and acceptance.

2.       To offer recreational and wellness programming to Club members.

3.       To provide peer support.

4.       To meet selected pragmatic, material needs of members (e.g., computer and telephone access, shower and laundry facilities, a daily meal)

5.       To oversee the operation of the Elaine Arsenault Fund.

Evangeline Club Coordinator:  35 hours per week

Evangeline Recreation Society is seeking an energetic, creative, and flexible Club Coordinator.  The successful candidate will  coordinate all Club activities, fulfilling a wide range of interpersonal, administrative, operational, programming, marketing, and fundraising responsibilities. The Club is open for 6 hours, 5 days per week, and is located at 130 Commercial Street, Berwick. The coordinator will report to the Board of the Evangeline Recreation Society.

Salary Range: $42,000.00 to $44,000.00 a year

Position Responsibilities:

1.       Coordinating the work of all ERS staff to ensure the objectives of ERS are met.

2.       Supporting the mental health strengths and needs of members.

3.       Developing and engaging in unstructured and structured Club programming.

4.       Coordinating a volunteer program.

5.       Overseeing the day-to-day cleanliness and maintenance of the Clubhouse; working with the BOD to ensure needed maintenance and improvements are addressed.

6.       Establishing and maintaining record keeping systems related to membership, Club activities, and finances.

7.       Carrying out fundraising efforts and preparing and overseeing grant applications.

8.       Overseeing social media, marketing, and other communications efforts.

9.       Establishing and maintaining relationships with associated organization

Position Qualifications

·         Community College diploma, undergraduate university degree, or comparable education

·         Experience with non-profit organizations

·         Knowledge and experience relevant to people living with mental health challenges

·         Administrative skills such as data collection, record keeping, financial management

·         Planning and programming skills

·         Knowledge of the local community and resources

·         Knowledge of crisis intervention to ensure safety for members and staff

·         Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

·         Ability to build meaningful relationships

·         Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

·         Willingness to complete criminal record check, vulnerable sector check, and complete a food handlers’ course
