PROJECT MANAGER, SGR Registry & Warmline

CONTRACT TERM: Anticipated start date May 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024
HOURS: 37.5 hrs/week
LOCATION: Remote, some travel around Nova Scotia required

Sexual Health Nova Scotia (SHNS) represents the provincial network of community-based sexual health centres. We work together to champion positive sexual health throughout the lifespan for all Nova Scotians through the following core activities: Advocacy; Education; Navigation; Partnership.

SSHS has received funding from Health Canada’s Sexual and Reproductive Care Fund to oversee the establishment of a virtual, provincial sexual, gender, and reproductive (SGR) registry and warmline. The goal is to facilitate linkages to SGR care from Primary Healthcare (PHC) and/or other appropriate service providers, and build their capacity to provide basic SGR services. While the registry support may be utilized by all Nova Scotians, it is primarily targeting marginalized and underserved groups such as 2SLGBTQIA+ and racialized populations, and youth who often struggle with access to these services.


As Project Manager for the SGR Registry & Warmline project, you will be responsible for:

Operational Management

Project management for all aspects of setting up and launching the registry and warmline
Supporting the work of the System Navigator, Web Developer, and summer project staff
Working with the Evaluation Consultant to develop and implement a performance management plan as per funder, Health Canada, requirements
Coordinating and facilitating communications about the project activities with the ED of SHNS and the project’s Advisory Committee and Task Team
Coordinating meetings of the committees and other project meetings. This includes set-up, developing agendas, and taking minutes
Collaborating with the SHNS ED and Evaluation Consultant on monitoring the project, and reporting progress
Facilitating data collection and analysis based on the Project Management Plan in collaboration with Evaluation Consultant
Supporting the System Navigator in responding to questions from the public and service providers regarding access to sexual health services and providing navigation of healthcare services
Grant writing for sustainability of the project
Other duties as required
Public Relations and Promotions

Communication with the media
Creating and implementing a promotions plan in conjunction with the team
Creating and managing the content that will go on ads, social media accounts, and the website, supporting the summer staff with content creation
Resource Development

Working with the System Navigator to research, develop, and distribute committee-approved sexual health resources, based on evidence and best practice
Strategic Partnerships

Representing the project on provincial committees and at events as required
Supporting new and existing partnerships with organizations and services that are aligned with the vision and mission of SHNS and partners


Completed degree or formal training in a relevant field such as social work, counseling, health promotion, public health, project management, gender studies, sexuality studies etc.
Demonstrates the principles/values of SHNS
Experience working within the not-for-profit sector and engaging stakeholders and partners with advocacy or system navigation efforts. A combination of both clinical and community-based experience would be an asset
Ability and experience writing accountability reports to funders
Knowledge of Nova Scotia’s health system including relevant provincial and federal government health strategies/guiding documents (e.g., Action for Health)
Broad knowledge of sexual, gender, and reproductive health issues, stakeholders, best practices, and resources in Nova Scotia
Demonstrated ability to function as team member, leader, and facilitator
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as comfort with public speaking
Demonstrated ability to analyze and present data effectively
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a changing environment
Computer literacy to operate file sharing, word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, Internet, and e-mail software – specifically skills using Microsoft suite and Google suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Forms, etc.), and Zoom//Teams. Slack and WordPress would be an asset.
