Van Driver – Primarily responsible to schedule and provide safe and efficient daily transportation using a 15 passenger van.  Ensures van is maintained at a high standard of repair and cleanliness and undergoes successful Motor Carrier Inspections.  Picks up supplies and mail for Program.  Work involves split shift from 6:30 am to 10:30 am and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm daily.  Requires Class 4 license or higher, clear driving abstract, successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check and completion of Standard First Aid.  Currently, proof of full vaccination is required. South Shore Work Activity Program provides employment readiness training  and supports for youth and adults who struggle to gain or maintain attachment to the labour market. Extended periods of seating behind the wheel and operating a motor vehicle in changing weather and road conditions are demands of the role along with lifting up to 20 lbs.  This is a bargaining unit position that has a current hourly rate of $17.14/hr (probationary rate) increasing to $18.25 per hour at 1040 hours worked.  Wage is based on a 40 hour work week.  Full benefit and paid leave package is provided.
