Work Centre Manager (South Shore Work Activity Program)

 

Full Time/Permanent (40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday)

Anticipated Start Date:  after September 1, 2022

Annual Salary Rate:     $56,000 (probationary) to $60,000 (position)

South Shore Work Activity Program (SSWAP) located near Chester Nova Scotia, is an employment readiness program that provides opportunities for people facing barriers to employment to learn new skills and to connect to employers in our community.  In anticipation of an upcoming retirement, we are recruiting a candidate to fill the role of Work Centre Manager.

Working with a volunteer Board of Management and reporting to the SSCSA Executive Director, the Work Centre Manager provides leadership to all parts of the Work Activity Program as it pertains to employees, participants, community, employer partners, funders, regulators, and the Board of Management.  As a manager, the Work Centre Manager supports the delivery of program components to reach goals identified by the funders and the Board of Management.

 

The position involves a significant amount of administrative responsibility (human resource management, budget planning and fiscal resource management, funding agreement negotiation and administration, data gathering and reporting, public relations related to participant recruitment, and problem solving/crisis management).  The Work Centre Manager represents the program with community partners to identify partnerships and project growth opportunities.

 

The candidate will have completed a combination of post-secondary training in business management or post-secondary education in the human services field with at least five (5) years’ experience within a human services agency.  Strong computer literacy skills including a knowledge of accounting, document processing, spreadsheets and data management along with demonstrated high level competence in oral and written communication skills will be necessary.

 

Candidates should be able to communicate a strong knowledge of the issues facing youth and adults with multiple employment barriers and how to use this to develop programs and responses to meet individual needs. Experience managing in a unionized work environment will be a definite asset.  Additional requirements: Valid NS Driver’s License and insurability, clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check, valid First Aid Certification, and due to our organization being within the “high risk settings” as identified by the Province of Nova Scotia, proof of full COVID 19 vaccinations or approved exemption remains a requirement.
