Opportunity

Ulnooweg’s Finance team is recruiting an Accounts Payable Clerk as an addition to our growing organization. This role is responsible for processing non-payroll accounts payable for staff, contractors, guests, suppliers, and other entities. The Accounts Payable Clerk will also support the year-end audit process and assist with various tasks across the Finance team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, review, and verify outgoing payments via invoices, expense reports, cheque requests and Visa reconciliations.
  • Ensure relevant financial coding and management authorization are present on all payment requests following organizational policies and standards.
  • Create records of invoices, expense reports, and cheque requests in the accounting software in consultation with the Financial Controller.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments by issuing either cheques or conducting electronic fund transfers based on approved payment requests.
  • Generate Accounts Payable reports as needed to facilitate cash flow management.
  • Create and organize payment records in both electronic and hard copy formats.
  • Support year-end audit process, providing records and information for inquiries.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and 2-3 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications such as Sage 50 and Excel or equivalent.
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Strong knowledge of payment regulations and fair credit practices.
  • Experience in gathering data and compiling information to support financial reports.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.
