The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of Nova Scotia (ACEC-NS) is looking for a part-time Member Development Associate to help us build strong relationships with our member firms, support member engagement, and grow our vibrant professional community.
This flexible contract position may be ideal for a semi-retired professional, experienced association administrator, communications professional, or independent consultant seeking flexible work.
The role is designed for someone who enjoys connecting with people and creating positive experiences for association members. You’ll play a key role in helping engineering firms across Nova Scotia understand and access the benefits of ACEC-NS membership, participate in our professional development and networking opportunities, and stay connected to the advocacy work of the Association.
Working closely with the Executive Director, you’ll be a friendly and responsive point of contact for member firms, while also leading membership growth and engagement.
What You’ll Do
Build and strengthen member relationships
- Welcome and onboard new and returning member firms
- Conduct regular outreach and check-ins with senior leaders in member firms
- Support membership renewal and retention initiatives
- Build out member firm profiles and project spotlights on the ACEC-NS website
Grow our membership community
- Help identify and recruit prospective member firms and affiliate members
- Track and maintain a recruitment pipeline
- Work with the Executive Director to develop and lead membership growth initiatives
Support member engagement
- Promote member participation in committees, professional development opportunities, and event attendance
- Support volunteer committees leading the annual Members Survey and annual Awards Program
- Help the Board and Executive Director to identify new activities and opportunities that provide value to members
Manage membership systems and communications
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date membership database
- Manage access to the members-only section of the ACEC-NS website
- Prepare quarterly membership reports for the Board
- Work with the Executive Director and Marketing Communications firm to identify member stories and content for newsletters, social media, and the website
We’re Looking For Someone Who Is
- Friendly, approachable, and relationship-oriented
- An excellent communicator, both written and verbal
- Organized and detail-focused
- Comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with member-facing work
- Self-directed and able to work independently
- Passionate about helping people feel welcomed, informed, and engaged
- Experienced in membership organizations, associations, non-profits, fundraising, customer relations, or community engagement
- Experienced in using Microsoft applications and WordPress is required. Experience with Canva, Eventbrite, and MailChimp would be an asset.
Position Details
- Reports to the Executive Director and supports the Board of Directors
- Part-Time Contract Position; you will be required to submit a monthly invoice.
- Approximately 30 hours per month (a maximum of 360 hours per year).
- Flexible scheduling with primarily remote work. Some attendance at events will be required.
Compensation
The contract rate is anticipated to be approximately $35-40 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
