Third Place Transition House is seeking a compassionate, organized, and client-focused Office & Housing Support Coordinator to support women and families accessing shelter and outreach services. This role supports clients by helping them navigate systems, access resources, and advocate for their needs, while also providing administrative support to help Third Place effectively deliver services to clients. Responsibilities
Working with a trauma-informed, feminist, and anti-oppressive framework, the Office & Housing Support Coordinator plays a key role in supporting clients as they transition from crisis to stability. Key responsibilities include:
Housing and Client Support
- Support clients with housing applications, documentation, and system navigation
- Maintain current housing listings and relationship with landlords and housing providers
- Advocate on behalf of clients with housing providers, government programs, and community agencies
- Provide referrals to community supports and services
Administrative and Office Coordination
- Provide reception support, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and greeting visitors
- Maintain confidential client files, housing records, and databases
- Coordinate client appointments, meetings, and intake processes
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and program documentation
- Support tracking of program outcomes
- Maintain organized office systems and administrative procedures
Program and Organizational Support
- Work collaboratively with shelter staff, outreach workers, and community partners
- Support intake processes related to outreach support
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all privacy and safety protocols
- Contribute to a respectful, supportive, and safe environment
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Diploma or degree in human services, social services, office administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in housing services, shelters, transition houses, or social services preferred.
- Experience providing administrative and office support preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of shelter systems, transition houses, housing systems, and barriers to housing
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial tracking
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Commitment to trauma informed, client-centered, and anti-oppressive practice

A little bit about us
Third Place is a shelter for women and their children experiencing abuse-including physical, sexual, economic, verbal, financial, and psychological abuse. Our services support women aged 16 and older, whether they are living at the shelter or in the community. Using a trauma-informed lens, we provide residential shelter, outreach, and family support services across Colchester and East Hants. At Third Place, we offer safety, healing, and hope during some of the most challenging moments in our clients’ lives.

- Employment Type: Full-time, 1-year term position
- Compensation: $59,367 annually
- Start Date: Anticipated June 15, 2026
- Hours of work: 9:00 – 4:30pm Monday to Friday
- Benefits: Health insurance and paid time off.
Additional Considerations:
Staff at Third Place must be sensitive to the unique challenges faced by women and children who have experienced abuse. A deep understanding of the cycle of violence, trauma-informed care, and social determinants of health are essential. Staff are expected to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate professionalism, and show strong time management and self-reflection skills.
