The Transition House Association of Nova Scotia (THANS) is seeking a Table Coordinator to support the work of the Nova Scotia Highest Risk Domestic Violence Table. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of community, government, police, and health systems to help prevent and eliminate violence against women in Nova Scotia. If you have strong expertise in high-risk domestic violence, the Nova Scotia justice system, and collaborative systems response, we encourage you to apply.

    This is a term opportunity.

The Nova Scotia Highest Risk Domestic Violence Table

The Table is a shared initiative between community, police, government, and health that enables service providers across the province to elevate domestic violence situations where there are concerns for imminent risk of serious harm or death. The Table serves as a mechanism for increased attention to highest risk domestic violence situations, resulting in a wider spectrum of detection and earlier intervention to prevent domestic homicide.

The Table Coordinator provides coordination, administrative, and operational support to the Table. Working closely with the Safety Outcome Advisor and Crime Analyst, the Coordinator ensures effective Table processes, supports case-related coordination, and strengthens communication and collaboration across service providers and system partners.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Coordinate and prepare documentation, meeting minutes, communications, agendas, and reports, while following up on pending issues.
    • Create and maintain files in line with records management practices.
    • Coordinate the work of the Table by assisting other Table Supports, Table Standing Members and service providers with all Table processes, including the referral and follow up process.
    • Build relationships across all service providers.
    • Receive inquires about the Table and respond, when appropriate.
    • Provide assistance to service providers and others, in coordination with Table Supports, in navigating access to services/supports (i.e., services/supports for the perpetrator, housing, income assistance, etc.).
    • Arrange for service providers or others, as relevant, to attend Table meetings.
    • Support and participate in information/education about the work of the Highest Risk Domestic Violence Table, including formal presentations.
    • Identify and track systemic gaps, challenges and trends related to highest risk referrals and files.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
